Transitioning Canada to a Clean Energy Future

As part of our mandate to counter climate change and its impact, the Gencon Foundation has been supporting the David Suzuki Foundation in its efforts to transition Canada from a dependence on fossil fuels to a clean energy future.

In 2018, the David Suzuki Foundation will launch Charged Up, a community-led renewables program that will work locally, provincially and nationally to do the following:

  • Supporting local communities to move to 100 per cent renewable energy.

  • Working on key policies to accelerate renewable energy generation and use in the nation’s five largest provinces: Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Quebec.

  • Enacting and strengthening the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, to ensure that Canada is on target to 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050.
