As part of our mandate to counter climate change and its impact, the Gencon Foundation has been supporting the David Suzuki Foundation in its efforts to transition Canada from a dependence on fossil fuels to a clean energy future.
In 2018, the David Suzuki Foundation will launch Charged Up, a community-led renewables program that will work locally, provincially and nationally to do the following:
Supporting local communities to move to 100 per cent renewable energy.
Working on key policies to accelerate renewable energy generation and use in the nation’s five largest provinces: Ontario, Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Quebec.
Enacting and strengthening the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change, to ensure that Canada is on target to 100 per cent renewable energy by 2050.
