Gencon Foundation
Strategic Focus
The Gencon Foundation is a private family foundation based in British Columbia, Canada. The strategic focus of our foundation is to support the transition to an environmentally sustainable and socially just society. We are particularly interested in funding projects that reflect a holistic understanding of environmental issues and their impact on human communities.
In 2010, we are seeking funding applications in the following areas:
1. Innovative educational and experiential projects that build environmental awareness and leadership, especially among youth
2. Urban greening initiatives such as community gardens
3. Community-based ecological restoration
Funding
The Gencon Foundation invites inquiries from any registered Canadian charity working in the geographical region of British Columbia. Eligible projects must align with the strategic focus of the foundation. Grant applications will be accepted from July 15, 2010, and are due by September 15, 2010. No applications for funding will be received after this date.

Applications and reports must be submitted to genconfoundation_genconfoundation.ca. Please include the name of your organization in the subject line of the email message, as well as in any related documents. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Guidelines for Donees
The Gencon Foundation requires each donee to submit a final report at the completion of its 12-month grant year.
Final reports are expected within 2 months of completing the grant activities.
The final report must address separately the four items listed below, and its total length should not exceed five pages.
1. Accomplishments: What were the most significant accomplishments that resulted from this grant? What were your indicators of success and how did you reach them?
2. Lessons learned: What lessons did you learn? What strategies worked and what approaches fell short of expectations, and why?
3. Sustainability: What are the next steps? How will this project be sustained, or how will you build on it to maintain momentum?
4. Review the budget information and funding plan from the application submitted to the Foundation. Explain any major discrepancies from the information submitted in the application
